Inside The Hatchet

Blogoriffic

A few years back, when I was The Hatchet’s sports editor, I had a blast posting on our sports blog. It was fun and gave me a platform to get some things out there that didn’t make it into our print edition.

Now as editor in chief, I’m looking to do the same. I am looking to explain what goes on behind the scenes at your campus paper. Why do certain things make it into the paper when others don’t? Why do we put things on the front page when we do?

I’d also love to hear questions. So drop me a line at jsherman@gwhatchet.com or post on this blog.

Jake, please change the RSS feed for the newspaper, if you have any control over it. Not all the leads that appear there give the proper impression of the content. A short summary of the article would be great.

    Hi DB-
The leads that appear are selected by myself, the web editor, with the help of my production team. The teasers are usually one of the first few paragraphs of the article, or a splicing thereof. We’re normally working rather fast (and incredibly late at night), but I’ll make an extra push to make sure our summaries more accurately reflect our content.

If you have any other issues, please don’t hesitate to contact me at web@gwhatchet.com. If you’d like, I’d appreciate it if you could send me some of our, um, not-so-good summaries. Thanks!
    Andrew Nacin, Web Editor
