It’s registration week again, and the burning question on many students’ minds is simple: “What classes should I take?”

Some of your class slots might be filled with graduation or major requirements, but most people have room for at least one elective. Let us know in the comments what your favorite classes have been, and why other students should take them.

Turning the page

Since we revamped them at the beginning of 2008, The Hatchet’s blogs have had you covered on all the breaking news, sports, and commentary you could handle. Where we’ve missed the boat, however, is in talking about the issues that have the biggest effect on the things you care about – student life.

To fill that gap, we’re happy to launch a new blog today called Beyond the Books. It’s designed to focus on exactly what it sounds like – what you do at GW outside of classes, internships and work. It’s what you read. What you do. What you live.

Our Life, Arts, and Web editors will be its main contributors, though others may chime in from to time. If there’s something you’d like to see on BTB – a recurring feature on fashion, a roundup of local government activity, whatever – go ahead and let us know in the comments.

Filming will take place in Georgetown Wednesday, according to an e-mail from the Metropolitan Police Department’s second district Listserv. Shooting will occur between 3 p.m. and 3 a.m. at Georgetown Waterfront Park and at 33rd Street between Water and Grace streets.

No streets or sidewalks will be closed, but parking may be affected, according to the e-mail.

The message doesn’t say exactly what is being filmed, but the new flick starring Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd and Owen Wilson is the best guess. The folks over at Vox Populi seem to have confirmation on that one, plus a bit more.
