The Scene

In today’s issue, The Scene and Colonialist.com bury the Hatchet (metaphorically, that is.) They love us now, and we love them. But only in the way an abusive father loves his kids.

Also, we review Will Ferrell’s latest movie, “Semi-Pro”, Contributing editor Amanda Pacitti gives us the scoop on live music in the District this month, the Bar Belle stays on campus and tries to drink at Tonic, and a strange radio frequency takes over the town and turns everyone into crazy psychopathic killers.

Movie previews after the jump!

In today’s issue of The Scene, The Hatchet’s multimedia editor Sam Salkin goes back to his music-writing roots and interviews Al Schneir, one of two guitarists for upstate New York jamband moe. Also, Hatchet reporter Brian Austin interviews Jesse Elliott of the D.C. band These United States. Be sure to check out junior Jennifer Tchinnosian’s blog post from the Berlinale, Berlin’s annual film festival. Click ‘more’ below for video and music relating to this week’s issue!

Hope everyone got a chance to see today’s Arts page The Scene. By the way, I’m sure you’ll notice the fresh new look to our print page– all thanks to one of the newest additions of the Hatchet’s production staff, Alex Abnos (if you can’t get the print edition, download the .pdf version from the Hatchet’s homepage.) A few facts about Alex Abnos:

  • Plays in a band called “Tut Tut” – once featured on NPR’s “Second Stage” series. (Click Here to check it out.)
  • Hosts a weekly radio show on WRGW, “Undeclared Rock”– featuring interviews and live in-studio performances by local D.C. musicians and bands. (Click Here to listen to his podcasts of the show.)
  • Interns at USA Today
  • Is a bona-fide bad-ass with Adobe Creative Suite CS3

And Now: Videos! Videos! Videos! Including the lovely Grace Potter, a preview of “Charlie Bartlett,” and a music video from Mute Math. Videos after the jump. Read more…
