Incoming Colonials Kethan Savage and Joe McDonald are both members of The Washington Post’s 2012 All-Met boys’ basketball first team, the annual ranking of the most outstanding local high school players.

Savage, a 6-foot-3, 190 pound guard, “was one of the region’s most explosive players,” The Post reported. He averaged 19.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists over the season.

McDonald, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound guard, “did it all for the Bears,” the All-Met selection said. He averaged 22.7 points and 10.9 rebounds this season.

Along with Kyprianos Maragkos and Patricio Garino, Savage and McDonald make up the first recruiting class of head coach Mike Lonergan’s career at GW, one that Lonergan said would figure heavily into his game plan for next season. The four will be joined on the court by incoming Villanova transfer Isaiah Armwood, and could potentially see one more recruit added to the roster after sophomore guard Dan Guest’s announced departure from the program.
