The GW inaugural float passed by the reviewing stand at about 5:40 p.m. Fox News Channel caught a glimpse of President Obama saluting George, the University’s mascot. D.C. News Channel 8 and other local stations also had a live shot of the parade as the GW float passed by the White House.
National news networks CNN and MSNBC, however, missed the GW float in its entirety. CNN was on a commercial break for the duration of the float’s time in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, while MSNBC returned from commercial break halfway through and cut directly to coverage of Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-Mass.) collapse earlier today.
