College Republicans accept defeat

This post was written by Hatchet reporter Matt Rist.

The officers of the College Republicans silently walked out into the hallway in a single-file line shortly before the announcement that Barack Obama was elected president.

Roars of applause erupted from the CDs watch party and people ran madly across the hallway screaming, “Barack Obama is president,” as the officers of the College Republicans hugged each other with sad, tearful smiles.

Most people have filed out of the room dejectedly, with just a handful of people remaining behind to watch the Fox News commentary and coverage of the Obama camp in Chicago.

Freshman Leighanna Driftmeir is disappointed, but she looks to a strong future for the Republican Party.

Driftmeir said, “I feel let down. However, I think the next four years will be great to give the party a facelift to re-energize and rebuild from the ground up.”
