Where does Boyer get off saying that he knew nothing about the Unity Ball until he saw a flyer in his mailbox?
Either he is lying, or completely out of touch, neither of which is acceptable. As a member of a student org on campus, I was aware of the Unity Ball event well in advance, easily within the first few weeks of school, and my org didn’t even participate in the planning. We certainly were not alone in our knowledge of the event either.
How could Kyle not have heard a thing about it when many who were involved in student orgs already did? Why should I, a student with no involvement in the SA, know more about the biggest waste of money this year (arguable after the Float, but thats a different gripe…) before the EVP of the SA?
While I’d be among the last to defend Vishal’s merits, I don’t think he has any almighty power to keep such a large-scale event completely secret from the EVP when so many people outside of SA knew about it. How out of touch Kyle had to be to know nothing about it I can only guess.
Once again, either Kyle completely misled us on this, or he was pathetically disconnected; which is worse, I’m not actually sure…
I think it’s a testament to the true failings of Vishal that even Boyer wasn’t in the loop. You heard it last night at the debate; he didn’t talk to anybody! Nick said so, Kyle said so, and Julie said so. There’s a reason half of his cabinet resigned this year, and it’s because he chose to pursue these projects by himself. I was there, I know Unity Ball was never raised as a major issue before the entire senate.
The only candidate who could have stopped this gross misuse of student funds is Bindleglass, because she really got the wool pulled over her eyes when she allocated the funds for it.
