Spoon to headline Fountain Fling

Spoon, an indie rock band from Texas, will headline this year’s Fountain Fling event, Program Board announced Wednesday morning.

“We’re very excited that we were able to book Spoon to play at this event,” said PB Executive Chair, Tiffany Meehan, in a press release. “They’re a great live band that will be sure to attract a large and diverse group of students.”

Spoon released their best selling album, Gimmie Fiction, in 2005. Their latest album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga was released in July 2007. One of the band’s most popular songs is “The Way We Get By,” which was featured on the television series The O.C.

Fountain Fling will be held on April 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. on the Mount Vernon Campus. The event is a combination of both the Spring Fling and Fountain Day events and will include a barbeque, giveaways and student performances.

Finally, a band that doesn’t suck. Easily makes up for Gym Class Heroes and whatever idiots it was that they booked for Fall Fest this year. That makes Tiffany 2 for 4, so far. So she’s doing better than Vishal!

    @Bill Jone,

Seriously? You’re just being down right idiotic. A band called Spoon? Sounds like a bunch of losers. Why don’t you go join them and leave GW.

  3. Andrew says:

Seriously, you are a moron. This probably is the best band I’ve ever seen at Spring Fling. I remember when Redman played for like 10 minutes. Awesome.

  4. Jason says:

I love Spoon! This is so cool!

  5. Laura says:

    yay!

  6. Ashley says:

    HOLY CRAP. That’s amazing.

  7. Casey says:

Spoon is my favorite band ever! This is so great! How on earth did GW book them? Keep up the good work!

  8. Eric says:

Will the Spoon show be open to the public? I looove Spoon and live in Reston, but am not a student at GW.

  9. Stephen says:

I’m dying to know if this is open to public, as well. Even if non-students have to pay entry.

  10. NoahNox says:

“Seriously” is the only retard/loser and obviously doesn’t know shit about music. Do some research before you open your pie hole next time!

  11. FountainFling says:

Unfortunately, the Spoon performance is not open to the public, however all GWU undergrad and graduate students with valid GWorld identification have the opportunity to bring one accompanying guest.

The FountainFling event is a joint effort of Program Board and Mount Vernon Programming Council. Over the last five months, this group of students has put a substantial amount of time, energy and dedication into planning a spectacular day — we’re overjoyed to know you’re as excited as we are.

Thank you for your compliments and support, and we appreciate all the kind words. In the next week, we encourage you to reach out to friends and students at the George Washington University and express your interest in attending.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any remaining questions. Thanks, and we hope to see you there!

I can’t believe that Spoon are going to be in town and I can’t see them — my student ID is out of date by about 25 years old. My daughter will be bummed to miss them, too.

Oh, well, good job on booking them for the Fling.

  13. Greg Seaberg says:

Anybody wanna take me as a guest? I’m not a GW student, and Spoon is one of my absolute favorite bands. Any kind-hearted souls out there can look me up on Facebook.
