Alum to step down as AIG chief

Edward Liddy, who graduated with a MBA from GW in 1972, announced he will step down as chief executive officer of AIG after just nine months at the helm of the troubled insurance company.

Liddy, 63, was appointed to the position in September and will serve until his successor is found, according to the New York Times. AIG, American International Group, has received more $180 billion in bailout funds from the federal government.
