Text of Program Board’s statement on Fall Fest

Program Board has released the following statement:

PB would like to thank all of those who attended Fall Fest today and enjoyed the event. Thousands turned out for a day of amusements, student performances, giveaways and free barbeque in University Yard. Fall Fest 2009 was one of the most highly attended in PB’s history.

PB is extremely disappointed with the actions of a few members of the crowd. After many different objects were thrown directly at Sean Kingston, the concert was temporally suspended and the audience was asked to refrain from engaging in inappropriate and potentially dangerous behavior by Tim Miller, Executive Director of Student Activities Center. Sean Kingston agreed to return to the stage and played continued to play his set. At the end of his set, two additional objects were thrown and struck him. This resulted in Sean Kingston leaving the stage by the direction of his personal security.

PB would like to thank the volunteers and GW administration that worked to make this event possible.

  1. Seriously? says:

PB is dissapointed in us? I’m dissapointed in PB.

  2. Disappointed says:

Maybe if Sean Kingston had made the effort to actually put on a performance, rather than merely shout out as music played in the background, we students wouldn’t have been displeased to the point of throwing glow sticks.
That being said, the actions of those students is inexcusable but the Program Board needs to find a more quality performer for upcoming shows.

GW students ruined this for themselves. Who throws things at the artist at a free concert? It’s really just embarrassing for the school. I’d be pissed if I were the administration. I’m so glad I go to AU.

I think that if PB had found someone that was actually willing to do a real performance, this would not have happened.. at any show there is stuff thrown on stage, it’s normal.. he can handle a couple of glow sticks – really don’t think it would hurt a big guy like Kingston. This doesn’t look as bad on the students, but makes Kingston look bad, seeing as there are more than 10,000 students and they all know that it was terrible, and will spread the word.
PB needs to stop blaming students for this, and find someone that is a better performer than this one hit wonder.
