SA Constitution vote to be held Dec. 2

The constitution referendum will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, the Joint Elections Committee said Tuesday.

Voting will be conducted online between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

A majority of voting students will need to approve the proposed constitution that the Student Association senate approved earlier this month for it to go into effect, The Hatchet previously reported.

The JEC plans to hold a barbeque in Kogan Plaza on Wednesday to publicize the election. A GW Infomail will also be sent out to students Wednesday morning.

JEC Chair Jake Chervinsky expects the barbeque to cost $200, and said the entire election could cost a maximum of $500 if the JEC chooses to buy Facebook ads. The senate allocated the JEC $7,500 in October.

“We’re not worried about voter turnout because it’s an online election, and it will take students a very short time to receive an e-mail and then vote,” Chervinsky said.
