Getting home: Travel advisories for the D.C. area

Airports

Reagan and Dulles:

Reagan National Airport (DCA): All runways are closed until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Snow-clearing crews are continuing to work on the runways. No more flights will operate today, and Metrorail is not operating trains to Reagan National’s station due to snow depth on the tracks.

Dulles International Airport (IAD): Snow-clearing crews have been working to keep at least one runway open. A few flights have arrived and departed this morning and a few international flights are en route to Dulles.  However, most scheduled flights today are canceled. Washington Flyer Coach is not operating between Dulles and West Falls Church Metrorail station due to roadway conditions Metrobus is not operating buses between Dulles and D.C.

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI): The BWI Web site is down due to traffic. BWI wrote on its Twitter page at 2:15 p.m., “When conditions are appropriately safe, BWI Marshall will reopen to air traffic. Snow removal efforts continue at the Airport.”

Airlines

UNITED

United has issued travel waivers for people traveling to, from, or through Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia for tickets purchased before Dec. 18 and for travel from Dec. 18-20.

US Airways

US Airways has relaxed ticketing policies for the cities listed above, which may be affected by bad weather. US Airways will waive the standard change fee, advance reservation and ticketing requirements for customers with travel to or from D.C. for Dec. 17 at 12:00 p.m. through  Dec. 20 at 11:30 p.m.

Metro

All 39 above-ground stations closed at 1 p.m. The modified underground service is operating as follows:

Yellow Line – Service from Pentagon to Crystal City only
Red Line – Service between Medical Center and Union Station only
Orange Line – Service between Ballston and Stadium-Armory only
Green Line – Service between Fort Totten and Congress Heights only
Blue Line – Service between Ballston (extended to Blue Line) and Stadium-Armory only

Buses

Metrobus

All Metrobus service is suspended until further notice.

Circulator

The Circulator is closed, and plans to begin service two hours late on Sunday morning (9 a.m. instead of  7 a.m.) to allow sufficient time to clear routes.

Bolt Bus: All schedules between New York City  and D.C. have been canceled for today and tomorrow. Check their Web site for details on Dec. 21.

Megabus:

All Dec. 19 services from and to D.C. have been canceled. Customers booked on affected trips may rebook  to a subsequent date or have their fare refunded.

Boston Service Cancellation Saturday and Sunday Dec. 19 and 20

Greyhound: Service disruptions listed on their  Web site.

Train

Amtrak service advisories Web site is currently not listing any service disruptions.
