False alarm evacuates Ivory Tower early Friday

A fire alarm evacuated Ivory Tower residents at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, but a D.C. fire official said the response was prompted by a false report of a trash room fire.

Battalion Chief Sean Greene said officers received a call shortly after 1 a.m. of a fire in a sixth floor trash room. The report turned out to be false.

Greene said officers investigated the roof and floor, but found no evidence of fire. An officer on scene said six fire trucks responded.

The scene was evacuated by 1:45 a.m.
