Ivory Tower residents will be without water for about an hour, after the building evacuated Saturday evening due to a worn down water pipe.

The pipe led a sprinkler to go off in the residence hall’s boiler room, and D.C. Fire and EMS evacuated the building at around 7:20 p.m. before turning off the water supply.

Boiler room hallways flooded, with water flowing into a drain under the garage, Director of Facilities Management Jim Schrote said. No damage was reported in any of the residential rooms.

Schrote said he did not know exactly when water would be restored in the building, but expected it to be running again within an hour.

Matt Kwiecinski and Chloe Sorvino contributed to this report.
