Sarah Sutton and Chas Pressner, presidents of the Panhellenic Association and Interfraternity Council respectively, describe the benefits to going Greek.
After celebrating the 150th anniversary of GW Greek-letter life last September, our campus has renewed its commitment to provide a dynamic Greek-letter college experience. With new resources and innovative programming, it is clear that the best will only get better in the coming years.

I’m kind of disappointed that an entire council (the Multicultural Greek Council) was left out of this article. The article makes it sound as if there are only two councils on campus – and that they are the only options. This is obviously not true and is misleading.
Using phrases like “Sorority recruitment starts this Thursday…” implies that ALL sororities on campus have the same process.
*smh*
Why does GW encourage Greek Life when the numbers say that these groups have a much higher rate of binge drinking. ???????
My guess is that they left out the MCGC because you didn’t have recruitment that week. It wasn’t any attack against you. Should they mention Panhel or the IFC every time they talk about the MCGC? That would be kind of obnoxious.
Where did you get these facts about GW binge drinking? Even if that were true, from what I’ve seen, the SA clearly has a much higher rate of binge drinking than the typical GW student. Should the school stop encouraging them as well? Stop being so hypocritical and try reading the article. Greeks do thousands of service hours for the community (both within GW and around DC). They set a great example for GW students.
