Clark: Admiring Rhee-form

Junior Andrew Clark, a Hatchet Columnist, discusses his admiration for the reforms enacted under D.C. public school Chancellor Michelle Rhee.

Ask me who one of my favorite contemporary political heroes is, and you may be surprised at the answer. She’s actually a Democrat, serving right here in Washington D.C. as the D.C. Chancellor of Public Schools – Michelle Rhee.

Rhee isn’t abrasive. She isn’t confrontational. She is truly and singularly focused on the students. That focus is so unprecedented that the teachers, the union, the city council can’t understand where she is coming from.

    Right on! Maybe there’s hope.

  3. Asher Corson says:

She is abrasive, confrontational, and all of the above. She had teachers escorted out of class by police officers. Why? Because she is abrasive and confrontational. If you think that it is good for kids and represents a singular focus on them to fire their teacher in front of them and have him or her escorted out by police, there is something seriously wrong with you.
